The Ralston Center Awards Program in Geriatrics recognizes superior geriatric nursing care and fosters research in geriatric nursing.
The Caregiver Award is presented annually to Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) who care for elderly residents in nursing homes, rewarding exceptional performance with recognition as well as a cash award. The program presently operates in eight nursing homes in Philadelphia: Centennial Village; Kearsley Retirement Community; Little Sisters of the Poor/Holy Family Home; Penn Center for Rehabilitation and Care; St. Ignatius Nursing Home; Saunders House; Simpson House; and Presby's Inspired Life @ 58th Street.
The Award for Gerontology Nursing Excellence recognizes superior academic achievement by graduate students specializing in geriatric nursing and provides funds for continued professional education. The $2,000 award is presented annually to one student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and one student at the Villanova University School of Nursing.
